VISTA, Calif., Nov. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Directed Electronics DEIX is pleased to announce that its new SiriusConnect HON-SC1 Interface for Honda / Acura has been recognized with a prestigious Innovations Award by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), one of Directed's eight 2008 Innovations Awards. Directed's three SIRIUS-related Innovations Awards reflect the company's undisputed #1 market share position in aftermarket Satellite Radio receivers & accessories.

The HON-SC1 SiriusConnect Interface opens up the other half of the satellite radio market for Honda and Acura owners who previously only had access to XM. It allows the Honda / Acura factory radio with its proprietary databus to communicate with the SCC1 SiriusConnect Vehicle Tuner (sold separately) for a permanently installed solution using the existing OEM radio controls. The HON-SC1 also enables a portable solution, substituting a SC-VDOC1 vehicle dock in place of the SCC1, allowing the user to then interface a dock-and-play radio (such as the Innovations Award-winning Sportster 5 or Stiletto 2) with the factory head unit, creating a portable solution that can be used outside the vehicle. (Vehicle dock and dock-and-play radios sold separately.)
The HON-SC1 was recognized not only for being the first available SiriusConnect solution for Honda / Acura, but also for leveraging this same hardware design to deliver a SIRIUS solution for a total of five different vehicle platforms (serving Toyota, Lexus and Scion owners with the companion TOY-SC1 interface, sold separately) differentiated solely by software and harnesses. This is a key value proposition offering new SIRIUS subscribers a cost-competitive, vehicle-specific solution. A DIP switch in the HON-SC1 (and TOY-SC1) selects the number of characters and scrolling parameters of the display to precisely match the factory radio.
The HON-SC1 offers an XM-to-SIRIUS translation which is absolutely transparent to the end-user, making it uniquely worthy of the 2008 Innovations Award. The product will be available in December for an MSRP of $99; the companion SCC1 SiriusConnect Tuner is available now with an MSRP of $49.
